<BR>Yes there are reasons to celebrate after the election! Locally, we Greens helped fight off a well-financed, machine-backed attack on progressive incumbents, keeping a progressive majority on the Board.
<BR>
<BR>Ross Mirkarimi has been officially declared the winner in the District 5 race for Supervisor. Congratulations to Ross! Our other Green Party candidates in the race, Lisa Feldstein and Susan King, also did well.
<BR>
<BR>Mark Sanchez won his bid for re-election to the school board! Eric Mar, a Democrat we had endorsed, also won re-election. Congratulations to Mark and Eric! Jane Kim did well, but did not win this time. We hope she considers another run.
<BR>
<BR>Renee Saucedo, our candidate in District 9, came in a strong second, and is poised to succeed Tom Ammiano in the next election.
<BR>
<BR>Jake McGoldrick, a Democrat we had endorsed in District 1, won his bid for re-election.
<BR>
<BR>Our Congressional candidates also did very well. Terry Baum got thousands of write-in votes. Pat Gray received nearly 20,000 votes, which was 10% of the overall vote in District 12. Pat's strong performance got the attention of the San Mateo County Times, who wrote about it.

<BR>Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) was implemented successfully in San Francisco. Thanks goes out to Steve Hill and our friends at the Center for Voting and Democracy for their work ensuring the success of IRV. The Green Party has long supported important electoral reform such as IRV, which has now allowed San Francisco to avoid a December runoff, saving the millions of dollars it would cost for the second election. We can now enjoy the holiday season without having to head back to the polls in December.

<BR>Nicole Walter received another shipment of "Go Matt Go!", the book about the Matt Gonzalez for Mayor campaign. A book party is being planned, which will likely be held at SFGP headquarters. Date and time to be announced.

<BR>"The Political Edge", a new book published by City Lights, also includes writing about the Matt Gonzalez for Mayor campaign.
<BR>
<BR>Many of us were over at the Green Festival over the weekend, http://www.greenfestivals.org, where we enjoyed talks by Matt Gonzalez and Peter Camejo, among others. Green Party members and Global Exchange Co-Founders Medea Benjamin and Kevin Danaher also spoke. Medea talked about the movement for peace, and Kevin spoke about his latest project, Global Citizen Center, http://www.globalcitizencenter.org.

<BR>Come to a volunteer appreciation party and celebration for Ross Mirkarimi, Supervisor-elect in District 5. Party starts at 7 PM and takes place at Mad Dog in the Fog, which is on Haight Street between Fillmore and Steiner.

<BR>SFGP General Meeting at our headquarters, located at 1028 A Howard Street between 6th and 7th Streets. Meeting begins at 7:30 PM. We will be choosing delegates for the Green Party of California plenary, to be held December 4 & 5 in Ventura.
