Hi all,

Rory Cox with Pacific Environment (an activist and group which have done
some really good work) has just written a piece for the Bay Citizen
which praises the U.S. military for its supposed great strides for the
environment (based on nonsense which he apparently read in some bogus
New York Times piece).

Please take a quick look at Rory's op ed, and then take a minute to send
him an email to set him straight on his unacceptable use of praise of
the military to promote environmental action.

AND PLEASE FORWARD THIS WIDELY so that Rory gets a -LOT- of reality
checks in his email box.

The op ed is at
http://www.baycitizen.org/blogs/citizen/what-california-can-learn-military-1/

Rory's email is:

More Info

For more military/environment background information, check out this
nice concise report on Redeye radio from Canada which gives a good 14
minute portrait of the massive environmental impact of the military,
just from its fuel use and resulting emissions, and from the impacts of
the use of depleted uranium plated munitions (which is not even to speak
of the devastation of the attacks and bombings themselves).

Please take a second to act on this all. We must send a strong message
of deep entroubledness to environmentalists who praise the military to
promote environmental causes.

thanks

Eric Brooks
