We should, but these meters aren't it.  They're partly a vehicle
for delivering kickbacks to a politically connected company:

They're also a roadblock to solar power, as Eric explained, as
well a means for PG&E to jack its customers for even higher fees.
In other words, a win-win-win, for them.
