[Sustain] Fwd: [Fwd: End CA's Fossil Fuel Addiction]

Californians need to get a moratorium on fossil fueled electricity added
to our ban on nukes. California should lead the way in building a
decentralized energy delivery system using renewables and get rid of
big, dangerous, wasteful centralized energy grids. Building centralized
solar and wind facilities does not do it, either, yet big money
companies like Chevron and the investor owned utilities build their
"environmental credentials" on them. Centralized facilities, especially
fossil fueled base load generators need to be a relic of the past, and soon!

Dear Barbara,
*Protect California
from Dirty Gas Plants!
San Diego Gas Plant Mock Up
<http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=0A5OHtEkVwIiCLD1k74atg>*Mock-up
of the proposed Quail
Brush Gas Plant in San Diego
*Take Action <http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=iiXUa231wON1pnRHjlCGvg>*
*San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) is determined to keep California
shackled to dirty energy at the expense of the environment, our pocket
books and our clean energy future.*
Californians are working aggressively to develop our greatest clean
energy resource, sunshine, and we're seeing the enormous benefits
locally and across the state from it. *But now San Diego Gas & Electric
wants to build two new dirty gas plants in San Diego that we don't even
need.*
In the next month the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will
decide whether to approve SDG&E's request to build these dirty plants --
and you can help stop them.
*Tell the CPUC to deny the request to build new gas plants in San Diego.

***California's future rests on the shoulders of clean energy not
natural gas.**
*
Clean energy is creating tens of thousands of clean energy jobs, cleaner
air and local economic development. Since 2010, jobs in the solar
industry grew at a rate of 13% across the country, compared with just 3%
for the rest of the economy.
*Send a message to the CPUC and tell them that you want California to
invest in clean energy, not dirty gas.*

Time again the San Diego Chapter of the Sierra Club has beat back SDG&E
locally including the Quail Brush Plant. But SDG&E won't stop trying to
get their way at the CPUC. But if we defeat SDG&E now it will set a
precedent that Californians don't need to power our homes and businesses
with out-dated dirty fossil fuels anymore and help protect communities
across the state from attempts by big utilities to build dirty energy
plants. *Let's stop solving 21st century problems with 20th century
solutions.*
*Tell the CPUC to deny SDG&E's permits to build two new power plants in
San Diego. <http://action.sierraclub.org/site/R?i=LQAizIp7fwLOFqbwfH4xZw>*
Thanks for all you do for the environment,
