We have time to prevent a speculation bubble being placed around a
resurgent uranium mining industry and increased efforts to remove tribal
people from their land to get at the energy reasources. Please
contact the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and tell them the public needs
more time to review this proposed General Environmental Impact Study
aimed at expanding uranium mining. According to the abstract, <br><br>
"The NRC staff plans to use the GEIS as a starting point for its
NEPA analyses for site-specific license applications for new ISL
facilities. Additionally, the NRC staff plans to use the GEIS, along with
applicable previous site-specific environmental review documents, in its
NEPA analysis for the restart or expansions of existing facilities.
"<br><br>
If you can, take some time to review the document, identify a question or
two that might come to mind, and write them, state your question(s) and
ask for more time for more thorough study.<br><br>
I will be calling for more time because I cannot get the PDF files on the
GEIS page to open, despite having the latest version of Adobe Reader and
a fast system. I would like to know if this is a problem for
others.<br><br>

The NRC is closing the comment period on October 7 for the draft Generic
Environmental Impact Statement (NUREG-1910, Vol. 1) for approval of
in-situ leach uranium mining operations . It is absolutely critical that
we get as many comments before the NRC either online or by letter
<b><u>calling for an extension of at least 90 - 180 days before closing
the comment period. </u></b> Handwritten comments must be
postmarked by September 26, 2008!<br>

minor delay tactic! The country is fully aware of the fact that energy
market traders have driven up the price of oil and other commodities.
Using the Enron loophole we have seen the price of uranium reignite a new
push to uranium mining industry here and elsewhere. Delaying this GEIS
long enough for a new administration to finally force the CTFC and
congress to remove the Enron loophole will save ratepayers from eating
another bubble, as well as putting a focus on the NRC's agenda of
ramroding unsafe ISL practices through.<br><br>
The Bush administration and USEC have been attempting to start a new cold
war with Russia as well dismantling the MOX fuel exchange program. Any
wonder why? <br><br>

comments such as NUKES IS BAD, read the GEIS first. My personal feeling
is that it is just a high priced prospecting guide for the foreign
controlled uranium mining companies using American lackeys to promote
their agendas!<br>
