<a href="mailto:John.Avalos@sfgov.org" target="_blank">John.Avalos@sfgov.org</a><br><br>Background: On Thursday, April 30, SFMTA Directors bowed to pressure from some members of the SF Board of Supervisors and the Mayor and, despite the fact that the SFMTA declared a fiscal emergency earlier in April allowing it to waive CEQA reviews, it amended the final budget and ELIMINATED staff proposals to start charging for parking at meters on Sundays and until 10 pm on week nights. By doing this, the MTA lost a $9 million opportunity to restore some Muni service and reduce some fares. Muni service cuts and fare increases will go into effect starting in July or September, unless seven members of the Board of Supervisors reject the budget and send it back to the MTA to amend it. <br>
