Dear Tenant Union
Volunteers,
We REALLY need your help
this month!! The Committee to Stop the Mass Demolitions of
Housing, a collective of housing rights organizations in SF,
needs your help to collect 1,500 signatures for a petition to
stop the demolition of homes.
We need to stop the
demolition of 1,500 rent controlled units at Parkmerced and to
do that we are doing a referendum in which the voters will get
the chance to repeal the Board of Supervisors’ decision to
demolish sound housing.
In order to put this
referendum before the voters, we need to collect 22,000
signatures before July 8th. We are getting some
help through paid signature gathering but we will need to
collect at least 5,000 signatures through volunteers! We need
your help in collecting these signatures. Please join us for
one or all of the three Saturday mobilizations that we will be
holding. The first one is this Saturday June 18th.
Come pick up your petitions, we will provide you with a brief
training on the best way to get signatures and we will send
you out in pairs to the best places to collect signatures.
This is the only way we
will be able to stop the demolition of theses 1,500 units.
Please come out and bring a friend!
No experience or prior
knowledge needed. You will be trained!
