Hello Everyone, Once again, thank you so much for agreeing to participate in our panel discussion on Thursday, September 22, following the screening of "The End of Suburbia." We hope to start the panel discussion at about 8 p.m. The address is The Red Victorian Bed and Breakfast (not the theater), 1665 Haight Street at Belvedere (for Dave, who is coming from outside the city, this is the Upper Haight, nearer to Golden Gate Park, and yes, up steep hills if you don't know the bicycle route called the Wiggle). September 22 is World Carfree Day. Other cities -- especially in Europe -- mark this day with great fanfare, but not so here in San Francisco. World Carfree Day is about pondering our energy and transportation futures. As panelists, you can address these issues anyway that you want, but this is what I had in mind: Ross Mirkarimi -- as chair of LafCo (Local Agency Formation Commission) it would be very interesting to hear about Community Choice Aggregation, Ross's past work for public power, and his thoughts on Proposition 80 Dave Room -- Relocalization and the Post Carbon Institute, the big future energy picture Leah Shahum -- local legislative efforts to advance alternative transportation, especially local changes to interpretation of CEQA and LOS, and anything else that is coming up that we don't know about.
