Hi Jim, I'm sending this e-mail again because it has disappeared from my "sent" folder and I want to make sure you got it. Sue As I mentioned at H.'s Friday salon, the San Francisco Green Party is now trying to organize a campaign for legislation around certain general transportation points that we have already adopted -- whether or not the Board of Supervisors decides to redevelop Mid-Market. The points are as follows: 1) There should be no more than .25 parking spaces per housing unit, and we ask that you seriously consider going lower, with the greatest share of parking spaces used for car-share vehicles; 2) There should be no above-ground parking spaces other than the minimum required for the operation of the buildings and the safety of building occupants; and, 3) The redevelopment plan should include funds specifically dedicated to expanding the bicycle lane network, engineering the Market Street bike lanes, and pedestrian improvements such as countdown signals at all corners within the plan area. We are inviting a few people to be on a small panel -- Jeremy Nelson or someone else connnected with Transportation for a Livable City, Jazzie Collins of Sixth Street Agenda, and someone from SOMCAN. Of course, we would do publicity in the neighborhood and invite as many residents and small business people as possible to be in the audience and ask questions and offer suggestions. The summit will be held at the SF Green Party office at 1028a Howard Street, between 6th and 7th streets, from 3 to 5 p.m., on Saturday, December 10. Would you be interested in being on the panel?
