JMC and I started planning this event at the last TWG meeting:

What: summit on transportation in Mid-Market based on the three transportation points in the letter that the SFGP has endorsed

When: Saturday, December 10, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Where: SFGP office

Purpose: Invite members of the community, alternative transportation groups, to share their ideas and hopefully to support us and create a campaign

We came up with these people to serve on the panel:

Dave Snyder -- Green, on board of Transportation for a Livable City (mailing, an item would go out to all its members) Jazzie -- Green, CC member, SoMa resident

Dave Wilbur, who is on the Mid-Market PAC, suggested that we get April Veneracion, Angelica Cabande, or Chris Durazo (all activists in the SoMa Filipino community) to also be on the panel.

He also thinks we should have Casey Mills or Sam Dogde from the Tenderloin Housing Clinic, but Casey is the one from Tenderloin Housing Clinic who's been doing transportation stuff). He also thinks it would be a could idea to get Leah from the SFBC to participate on the panel (the SFBC has a mailing, and a notice would go out to all its members ...)

We want to make sure to invite people from the community and other groups to be in the audience. He suggested SPUR, SOMCAM (South of Market Community Action Network or something), Jim Meko and the South of Market Leadership Council, Sixth Street Agenda, Bindlestiff Theater, and Senior Action Network.

The three transportation points are as follows:

1) There should be no more than .25 parking spaces per housing unit, and we ask that you seriously consider going lower, with the greatest share of parking spaces used for car-share vehicles;

2) There should be no above-ground parking spaces other than the minimum required for the operation of the buildings and the safety of building occupants;

3) The redevelopment plan should include funds specifically dedicated to expanding the bicycle lane network, engineering the Market Street bike lanes, and pedestrian improvements such as countdown signals at all corners within the plan area;
