I want to thank you and the whole group for putting the plank together. I'm involved with the Housing and Land Use working group and your working group has really set a great bar to reach. I read throught the proposed plank and have a few thoughts. In either Section A or B I think it would be great to include that transit planning especially for transit corridors should be coordinated with the Planning Department. As far as I know currently there is little if any coordination. In Section B Muni and Regional Transit #6 - would the elmination of redundant stops on the same line pose a problem for disabled persons especially in the more hilly areas of the city? Section D Taxis and Paratransit #6 - are check cards included as credit cards? I think that businesses are charged more for offering check card payment but there are many people who don't have credit cards but do have check cards. Section E Pedestrians #5 - I think that along with expanding zebra stripe crosswalks, the lighted striped crosswalks (like at City Hall on Polk) should be expanded. I take night classes at City College and on Phelan lighted crosswalks would really help. So many cars leaving the campus and so many pedestrians cross the street from the campus to the parking lot and to busstops at night is a recipe for an accident. Section G Street Cars #11 - enforcement of noise regulations. Maybe I just happen to live where motorcycles love to ride but it seems they contribute to more noise pollution than any other motorized vehicle. Would it be redundant to specifically mention motorcycles? Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions. And thanks again to the whole group for putting this together! -Jennifer- --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo!
