Hello Fellow Greens,

Campaign season is upon us, and at our special General Meeting on August 25th we endorsed Green Party member Jane Kim (www.janekim.org) and progressive Democrat Eric Mar for School Board.  There is one endorsement slot left in this race, as four seats are up for election.  We have already endorsed incumbent Green Mark Sanchez (http://www.marksanchez.org).  We also endorsed some ballot measures, though there are plenty more to still be decided.  See minutes of the meeting at

Terry Baum asked the California Supreme Court to take up her case.  See the article in the San Francisco Chronicle

Ross Mirkarimi, who has the SFGP's number one endorsement slot for District 5, has put forth a plan to deal with the urgent problem of violence in his district. GO MATT GO BOOK PUBLISHED:
Green Party activist Nicole Walter's book about the Matt for Mayor campaign is scheduled for release in October.  The book, which includes essays from many Green Party activists who volunteered for Matt's campaign, are available for an advance purchase discount.  The cost is $15 each, and payment (check or cash) should be sent to Nicole's home address below.  Also, Nicole is about $800 short of the final publishing fee, so any extra donations would be greatly appreciated.

The event covers the streets of Turk to Ellis (includes Eddy in the middle) and Steiner to Scott (included Pierce in the middle).  Come and join various Green Party candidates, and help us get the word out!

Join the Bicycle Parade for Renee Saucedo!  Meet at 10:30 AM at 24th and Mission, and follow on our bicycles a truck with a large sign saying "Renee Saucedo for Supervisor District 9." Join Kiss the Girl, Shantytown, Evan Elroy, Mojo Apostles, DJ Mischa, and Molotov Mouths for A Little Rebellion: A music and people festival to celebrate people power and the end of giant corporate domination at Studio Z, located at 314 - 11th Street near Folsom. Profits go to the Persons, Inc. fund to pass an abolish-corporate-personhood resolution in San Francisco. Doors open 8 PM. A $5-$15 donation is requested at the door, 21 and up. The Feminist Issues Group (FIG) resumes meeting after taking a summer break. The next meeting will be at 7 PM at the Green Party office, located at 1028 A Howard Street between 6th and 7th Streets.  Agenda will include identifying new leadership for FIG, a proposal from Terry Baum to come up with a platform on women's issues for presentation to women candidates, scheduling upcoming FIG speakers, an invitation from Medea Benjamin to be involved with a fundraiser for Renee Saucedo set for October 4th, and other ways to support Green candidates in the November election. Kickoff for San Francisco's first Green Party Incumbent Running For Re-Election!
Teacher and Green Party Member Mark Sanchez will be kicking off his campaign to be re-elected to the School Board from 7-9 PM at the Savanna Jazz Club, located at 2935 Mission, near 25th Street.  Marcus Shelby Jazz Trio will be performing with special guests Jeff Adachi.  Suggested donation is $10. Bay Area Policewatch, Justice for Cammerin Boyd & KQED Present:
"EVERY MOTHERS SON"
This special event takes place at the Cell Space at 2050 Bryant Street, between 19th Street and Mariposa from 8 - 10 PM.  Participate in a panel discussion with families who have lost their sons to police brutality in San Francisco.  Learn about their individual and collective fights to ensure that no other mother loses her son to police brutality.
Screening of a new documentary: "Every Mother's Son" recounts three cases of unjustified police killings in New York, including the case of Amadou Diallo - and tells of the victims' three mothers who came together to demand justice for their sons.
