* Press Conference for Sunday Streets: Tuesday, Aug. 5, Noon-1 p.m.
City Hall Steps, Polk Street Entrance
A pilot program, Sunday Streets will close a 4.5-mile stretch of The Embarcadero between the Bayview district to Chinatown on two Sunday mornings, Aug. 31 and Sept. 14, giving residents a chance to sample a variety of activities in a fun and engaging environment.  San Francisco will be the 3rd US city to host these events.  www.SundayStreetsSF.com 

* Direct Action: Stop the Military Recruitment of Children: Noon, Aug. 6th
South Park, 2nd Street, Bryant-Brannan streets 
“America’s Army” is a game developed by the U.S. military to instruct players in “Army values,” which portrays the Army in a positive light to increase recruits.  http://bayareadirectaction.wordpress.com/

* Animal Advocacy Working Group Meeting: Thursday, Aug. 7, 7-9 p.m.

AWG is involved in activities to protect animals and influence City Hall legislation. 
Look for the table with the greeting card or picture showing three wolf pups.  At 7 p.m., arrive if you wish to order dinner. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The event brings current First Amendment and freedom-of-information issues into focus and includes presentation of CFAC's Beacon Awards recognizing First Amendment and FOI champions.  Program details TBA.
