April Events: 
 
1. Thursday May 2, 2:30-3:30 pm "Divest the West to Lead the Rest" 
Action San Francisco Civic Center. Fossil Free SFSU is planning
a spectacle. Form a giant map of the US with our bodies. Inspirational 
speakers include Bill McKibben, City Supervisors John Avalos and 
Malia Cohen, and student leaders from around the Bay Area. 
You won't want to miss this!!!

2. Thursday May 9th Noon. URGENT decisive meeting: New mega soccer
fields in Golden Gate Park w/ground tires for a base - 60 ft. light
poles - The Coastal Commission's report is just out and they say "NO!"
The CCC Staff Report calls for major protections for Golden Gate Park,
including protecting the naturalistic character of the park. Some of
the staff recommendations include NO artificial turf, scaling down the
built elements to blend in with the naturalistic environment, and even
removing the existing fence! This means that everyone will once more
have access to the fields and be able to enjoy the parkland. agenda:

hearing is in San Rafael at the Marin Civic Center, 3501 Civic

3. Thursday May 9th is Bike to Work Day! Find the best route to work.
Take a free bicycle ed class. Get biking tips from seasoned riders.

4. Thursday May 9th 7-9 pm: "Understanding Post Traumatic Slave
Syndrome." A lecture not to be missed if you believe in healing over
200 years of racism. 1st Unitarian Church Franklin St. @ Geary.
Dr. Joy DeGruy is Assistant Professor in Social Work, Portland State
University.  Her new book of the same title reviews history and policies
that have led to the problems and inqualities that continue to
negatively impact African Americans. $20 at the door.  Two day
