[GPCA-SGA-Votes] Green Party Sex Tape video

Thank you Colt. I continue to be saddened by the tone Greens seem to be taking with one another. No need for us to insult each other. In fairness, all the different forums and committees are confusing. And it is often difficult to know where to take a conversation. But GPCA-SGA-VOTES has a very clear title that implies a fairly clear purpose. "Sex Tape" is definitely a provocative title and will evoke different reactions in different people. We are a diverse group with diverse values and so, we are sure to offend one another at one time or another. We can learn to be gracious (no matter if we are the offender, or the offended). Also, it is always a good rule of thumb in all instances (Green Party or otherwise) to go directly to the person(s) you have a disagreement with. Then, if an agreement can't be had between the two of you, bring it to the next circle of influence for assistance and support, then to the next- only if needed (to avoid unnecessary escalation of conflict and drama). We can build a better world, but only if we start with ourselves.

What's the purpose of sending this to the GPCA-SGA-VOTES list during a voting discussion, other than to affect the endorsement or non-endorsement of Josh Jones?
It just seems to me that this conversation would be far more appropriate in a more transparent setting such as the GPCA Forum if anyone finds the conduct truly troubling, or out of bounds for the party.
If you wish for his campaign to simply change the title, did you attempt to have this discussion one on one with the Jones campaign? If so, what was their response?
Did you make any attempts to resolve this issue with the Jones campaign prior to this email?
Personally, this type of intra-party discussion where we're not working on lifting each other up is the type of thing that turns me away from the Green party structure. It doesn't affect my affinity for the party itself as the party's values are what brought me here.
I think it's a HUGE WASTE OF TIME for candidates to spend their time fighting in emails when there's a much bigger fight to be had out there, especially during the frigging Election season.
I hope you can all put these sorts of differences aside and realize we're all on the same team and that our time can be much more effective if we work together against the forces of neoliberalism instead of picking on each other over campaigning style.
Thanks.

Apparently, some people don't see it as a joke. Perhaps the TV host should say something at the end to clarify this.

It's a joke, they are highlighting the core issue of our party of taking no corporate donations.

I loved it! Especially the comment at the comment about Monsanto and Chevron.
I think this is a great use of humor and creativity to address corporate control of politicians.

Is this real or a hatchet job by Green opponents? If it is real, it is really poor judgement and is quite disturbing. I could not support a candidate taking this approach to fundraising. It’s just wrong. The fair thing would be for the candidate himself to explain whether this is real or why he took this extreme action. Jeff LebowOC Greens

Dear SGA delegates
I am very disturbed by the Green Party Sex Tape video (https://youtu.be/dxhUS-QQPbg) created and posted by Gubernatorial candidate Josh Jones. Ifind the video offensive and an example of extremely poor judgment by someoneseeking to represent our party as a candidate for our state’s highest office.
I was first introduced face to face with the Green Party atthe August 2016 Green Party national convention in Houston, which I attended asan interested observer, after being turned off by the Democratic Party (as aBerniecrat delegate at the Democratic National Convention a week earlier.)
At the GPUS convention, I met David Cobb, Laura Wells, MikeFeinstein, Jill Stein, Ajamu Baraka, Cornel West (when things looked like hemight Go Green) and Luis Rodriguez (the GPCA's 2014 Gubernatorial candidate).Based upon those interactions, I was impressed by the Green Party, effectivelygoing Green the following month. Since then, I have learned a lot about theGreen Party and its inner workings. I love how there is a high value oninternal democracy. And I love the GPCA and GPUS platforms – solid.
But I have to say that if I would have come across this JoshJones Sex Tape video in 2016 prior to attending the Green Party convention, Iwould have not given the Green Party a chance at all. The concept and contentis immature and damaging to our party. A more thoughtful treatment couldhave been a great PSA moment. Instead it is an embarrassment, plain andsimple.
Given this, for anyone seeking our party’s endorsement, Ithink the video should be deleted from YouTube. But at a minimum, if thisembarrassment is to remain on-line, the use of the words “Green Party” shouldbe removed from the video's title. No one in our party has the right to postsomething like that, misrepresenting our party’s name in that manner.
