Dear Greens, Our meetings are normally held on the 4th Wednesday of every month. Because of the holidays, we are NOT holding regular meetings in November or December. Instead, we are planning a holiday party! We're planning some election analysis and politics to kick off, followed by holiday festivites. The event will feature Terry Baum and her volunteers, who ran a great campaign. We'll be holding a silent art auction during the event to help retire Terry's campaign debt. Look for an announcement on our website and in the newsletter when the date and location are set. *===========================* There are a couple of other holiday parties by Bay Area Greens, starting next week. Meet one of our 2012 Presidential candidates, Jill Stein! In Oakland, next Wednesday: http://sfgreenparty.org/events2/event/M2N2MmRkajd1YjFhZ20xZjlmMGQwMXZyb2MgOG... and in Fairfax, next Thursday: http://sfgreenparty.org/events2/event/ZW1nYjl0dTM2ZTducmhidmhpZGtmYTVsOWcgOG... *===========================* Keep up the Occupation! Visit http://occupysf.com/ for events and other happenings in San Francisco. *===========================* Finally, some SF Greens are working on a 2012 CA ballot initiative to label genetically modified foods (GMOs). In January, we should have the petitions in hand and will be hitting the streets. There are a few ways you can support this initiative. What we are most in need of is volunteer signature gatherers and a network of neighborhoods coordinators to support these volunteers. If you think you might be up for gathering some signatures and/or serving as a neighborhood coordinator, please come to our mini training next Monday, November 28th, 7pm-8pm. This training will take place at the Western Addition Library Branch, at 1550 Scott Street. (Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/200193236727515/) We are also having a fundraiser event with a silent auction on December 9th and 10th in Oakland. Entry to the event is free, and the silent auction will raise funds for our local efforts to secure educational materials, tabling supplies, etc. The auction will focus on local artist's work, goods and gift cards from local businesses, and will primarily take place on the 10th (the 9th is more of a welcome night). We are still collecting donations if you happen to be art artist, craftperson, store owner, etc. More importantly, we just want people to attend, so please come out if you can! (Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/292064224161077/) I also encourage anyone who wants to support us to spread the word about the initiative to friends and family, and/or to post on social media.
