It's very sad many of our community organizations work in alliance to their fund providers to mainain the "status quo" while helping a little and brainwashing our community... And, BTW, Mayor Lee is not running UNOPPOSED!! There's 5 OFFICIAL candidates running which are TOTALLY UNMENTIONED BY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA... Thanks for sending this to me. Randy has an interesting perspective although if all this were fact checked I think it wouldn’t hold water. If this were truly the case there wouldn’t have been 8,000 families displaced from the Mission between 2010-2012. And, city hall would not have been stormed twice by hundreds maybe more SF residents in the last several weeks for reasons directly related to housing and gentrification. Gentrification gets sold as the only economic plan for many cities around the country when in fact it doesn’t work for everyone and no one is talking about alternatives. I recently heard former presidential green candidate, Jill Stein was working on an alternative economic plan. I’m anxious to see it. The scariest thing about this article is that it’s coming from a director of a non-profit who is actually becoming part of the problem by perpetuating these falsehoods. Again, thanks for the article. It makes sense to me. If writing for a major news network was still an honorable thing to do and you could actually speak truth we might get real news and not some whitewashed rhetoric to maintain the status quo.
As far as I know Francisco Herrera is running this November and I’m ready for a change. A change for working people, common people, people with their community in mind.
