[Sustain] Newsom 'Signs' Community Choice Energy BUT With Insidious G.W. Bush Style Signing Statement
Mayor Newsom signed the Community Choice renewable energy project into law at around 3pm today, but he included what is basically a George W. Bush style signing statement saying all the things he thinks are wrong with the legislation and directing the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission(SFPUC)to, on its own initiative, issue the Request For Information(RFI)* and thereby bypass the Local Agency Formation Commission(LAFCO) which was granted clear advisory oversight by the legislation to oversee all implementation documents before they are released. *(RFIs are released to get feedback from potential contract bidders, customers and the general public, before issuing a Request For Proposals(RFI) which is a document specifically calling for contract bids from companies that want to take on the project.) Newsom's signing statement is in blatant defiance of the will of the Board of Supervisors, which voted unanimously to give the LAFCO the oversight role. peace Eric Brooks
