Hi all,
Here are CleanPowerSF talking points for today's 1:30pm joint
LAFCo/SFPUC hearing in SF City Hall, room 250. Use any one or more of
these points in your comments and emails to insist that there are no
more delays and that CleanPowerSF must start immediately.
1) After over 10 years of delays the planet cannot wait any longer for
this crucial clean energy program to be launched.
2) PG&E is launching its competing 'clean' energy program early next
year. It would be a *big* mistake for us to delay at this crucial
competitive moment.
3) The energy market and PG&E rates change all the time and CleanPowerSF
has been designed to be flexible enough to stay cleaner and more
affordable than PG&E, regardless of such changes. This delay is
completely unnecessary.
4) CleanPowerSF's existing business plan can easily be adapted as the
program moves forward. If we push the pause button every time the energy
market changes, we'll never start the program! Approve the CleanPowerSF
startup next month as promised!
5) For decades the SFPUC has been managing and delivering over 150
megawatts of power through the Hetch Hetchy system. The SFPUC clearly
has the experience and expertise to manage the far much smaller 30
megawatt CleanPowerSF start up without reversing course for weeks to
re-examine its business plan.
