OK. Let me see if I understand you correctly. You led your fellow enviro's into the negotiations with Yaki and his aide Karen Carlsen, etc...ony to help them fully grasp the concessions, or "the vision" you all wanted, ostensibly in exchange for dropping your opposition to the deYoung's planned garage. Only, once you had thoroughly shared your most intimate concerns for a "pristine, auto-free Pedestrian Oasis," you all decided that it really was not what you wanted after all. So, you then opposed Prop J at the ballot. So, Yaki, Hellman and the deYoung received the benefits of a quarter million dollar focus group that greenwashed Proposition J with the help of local environmentalists, and didn't have to pay anything for it at all? He told me several years ago that he raised the red flag of caution, as they were approached to make a deal. He told me that he determined "we" had a lot more to lose by not dealing, than we had to gain, so "we" went forward.
A key difference being that after meeting with Yaki to extract some concessions, we didn't make a deal.
