Hi all, Re our discussion at the last Transpo meeting about the Transbay Terminal, I watched the most recent Transbay Joint Powers Authority meeting and have an update. The basic gist of my report was about right. The Terminal is preparing to move forward. A site has been chosen and there are still details to work out about the actual configuration of Cal-Train tracks that will run to the site. Also, as I indicated, there is a slight lack of total central connectivity in the design, in that, the current configuration will rely on an underground pedestrian walkway that is several hundred feel long to connect the Terminal with either the Montgomery or Embarcadero Muni/BART station. I got the impression from the meeting, that the project has farther to go than previously thought before it gets off the ground, however the Authority is trying to keep amendments to the project plan sufficiently limited in scope that a new Environmental Impact Report is not required; thereby keeping the whole thing in 'go' mode. Their planning is being careful to allow for a possible failure of CalTrans to get high speed rail rolling on schedule (a failure which seems likely).
