To Whom It May Concern:
I urge you to support AB 799, a bill introduced by Assmeblyman Leno that would allow San Francisco to impose a local VLF (vehicle license fee). Our car-based lifestyle is highly subsidized through taxes that pay for roads and other infrastructure at the expense of other social services and the environment. A local VLF would be a way for San Francisco to begin recouping the costs of cars and redistributing money to other worthy causes. As an alternative transportation activist, I am especially interested in redirecting investment away from private systems of transportation -- our cars -- which are unsustainable, and to public transportation, bicycle lanes and pedestrian enhancements.
Please have a wise eye to the future of our community and our planet and vote for this bill.
Sincerely,
Susan Vaughan 2120 Clement Street, Apt. 10 San Francisco, Ca. 94121
