September 22 is World Carfree Day. Other cities -- especially in Europe -- mark this day with great fanfare, but not so here in San Francisco.
=v= In 2002, Supervisor Sophie Maxwell backed a celebration for this day, albeit with very little publicity and 5 days late (which happened to be the 10th Anniversary of Critical Mass). It wasn't particularly outstanding. The World Carfree Network has complained that some of the European cities' celebrations are basically just chi-chi market days. =v= Which is to say, showing this film is a mighty good way to celebrate the day! <_Jym_>
