Mission Street
A Cultural Tribute to the hundreds of who have been abducted and disappeared
in the Philippines. Featured speaker is Edith Burgos, mother of Jonas Burgos,
missing Filipino land advocate. Please join the Filipino community of San
Francisco and peace-loving citizens with a night of cultural performances,
documentary film, discussion and Edith Burgos. Ms. Burgos will be kicking off her
month-long national US speaking tour before addressing members of the U.S.
Congress in Washington, D.C., and raising awareness of the American public about
her son and all desparecidos (disappeared).
* No More Pollution; No More War in Iraq!: Saturday, March 15, 11 a.m. - 1
p.m.
Judge G. Carroll Park, W. Cutting Blvd & S. Garrard Blvd., Richmond
On the eve of the 5th anniversary of the war in Iraq, join Richmond residents
in a free rally and festival to decry Chevron’s links to the Iraq war and
call for a transition to a green economy. The rally will feature musicians,
performance artists, speakers, and a street-festival atmosphere.

* Iraq: 5 Years Too Many: Sunday, March 16, 5-6:30 pm; donation $5-$10, but
no one will be turned away.
Unitarian Universalist Church, 1187 Franklin St. (at Geary)
Vigil/Ritual Actor Sean Penn and Peace Activist Cindy Sheehan will headline
the event marking the fifth anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq. Also
featured will be Reverend Gregory Stewart, Senior Minister of the Unitarian
Universalist Church; Matt Gonzalez, VP presidential candidate and former President of
the San Francisco Board of Supervisors; and Justin Raimondo, editorial
director of Antiwar.com. After the speakers finish, attendees will march to the War
Memorial Auditorium on Van Ness Avenue carrying candles along with the names of
Americans and Iraqis killed in the war. The program is sponsored by the Iraq
Moratorium – SF Bay Area.
Volunteers are also needed to help gather signatures for a ballot initiative
about Fleet Week and the Blue Angels Air Show in San Francisco. Contact Anne

* Does Your Vote Count in California?: Tuesday, March 18, 7 p.m.; reception
at 6:30; Oakland Museum of California, 1000 Oak Street at 10th St, one block from
the Lake Merritt BART station.
This is a special launch event for VOTE DEMOCRACY!, Independent Television
Service’s national campaign to encourage new and young voters to get involved in
the democratic process. This panel discussion includes Derek Cressman,
National Assistant Director of Elections Reform, Common Cause; Steven Hill,
Director, Political Reform Program, New America Foundation; John Koza, Chairman,
National Popular Vote and Kim Zetter, Journalist, Wired News. The panel will be
moderated by Richard Gonzales, Correspondent, National Public Radio. Admission
is free, reservations required.

* End the War Now!: Wednesday, March 19, actions all day beginning at 7:30
a.m. at Sansome & Market Streets
Throughout the morning, groups will be sent out to war-profiteer and
government sites for non-violent direct action; at noon, meet at Senator Feinstein's
office at Post/Market/Montgomery Streets. At 5 p.m., rally at Civic Center

* "Stone Soup" Luncheon Lecture Featuring Daniel Ellsberg: Sunday, March 30,

Doors open at noon, lunch is served at 12:15 for a charge of $4.00 for light
vegetarian lunch, but attendees may bring their own food or abstain from
