Hello Greens,
If you've been reading our updates you know we have decided to give up our
office in October. We will be having a big goodbye office party to mark the
end of an era and beginning of a leaner, Greener era as we spend our money
on more appropriate things. Stay tuned for the details and please, please,
please help us out right now with a quick donation:

*Events*
*Tonight, Wed 9/16*
*7:00* PM - *County Council Meeting* - Open to the public
*9:00* PM - Join us for a screening of "*Flow: For Love of Water*" - From
both local and global perspectives, this documentary examines the harsh
realities behind the mounting water crisis. Learn how politics, pollution
and human rights are intertwined in this important issue that affects every
being on Earth. With water drying up around the world and the future of
human lives at stake, the film urges a call to arms before more of our most
precious natural resource evaporates.
*Wed 9/23 7:00 PM*
*Endorsement Meeting* (General Membership Meeting) -
Join us to help us decide whether or not to endorse the 2 candidates running
for City Attorney(Dennis Herrera) and Treasurer(Jose Cisneros).
We will also be discussing plans for future meetings, the moving party
*SFGP Endorsements for local Measures*
(more details will be written up after next weeks endorsements are made)
Yes on A (with a statement that we want something stronger, such as giving
the supervisors the option of making line item spending mandatory).
Yes on B (we've supported this for a long time; we also want to be sure this
wouldn't result in an elimination of aides)
No on C (we've always opposed corporate naming rights; e.g., Gonzalez' prop
G on naming rights)
No on D (many problems with this measure, with poor kids thrown in as window
dressing. but we sympathize with Warfield owner's desire to restore his
historic sign but with upgrades such as energy-efficient lighting and
removal of defunct corporate logos)
Yes on E (for same reasons we supported the advisory measure a year or two
ago; plus, the SFGP basically wrote the original billboard ban, which we
should complain about not being enforced by the Mayor.

*News*
*Green Party Outraged that Obama threw Van under Bus*
San Francisco - The SF Green Party is outraged over the resignation of
Obama administration advisor Van Jones over the Labor Day Weekend.
"Van Jones has always been an inspiring voice for social justice and
the environment. That Obama and the Democrats would force him out
proves just how low they can sink," said Erika McDonald, a local Green
Party spokesperson, noting that Jones was one of only a few
progressive voices that Obama has hired since taking office.
"We have worked with Van Jones on several key local issues related to
police reform and environmental racism," said Green Party County
Council member John-Marc Chandonia. "Obama's surrender to Glenn Beck
and his lunatic fringe followers only confirms that intelligent and
competent progressive leaders have no home in the Democratic Party."
