Announcement list for SF Green Party, updated weekly announce at sfgreens.org
Sat Jan 23 04:32:22 PST 2010

*Hello friends,*
*In case you stopped reading newspapers because they refuse to give the
Greens fair coverage, we wanted you to know that they will in fact cover us
if they sense a story about us struggling. Both the SF Bay Guardian and
Wall Street Journal did stories on the local Party over the last couple of
weeks focusing on how we were struggling to raise money and register
Greens. The Guardian article especially upset a lot of people who felt that
it was a hit piece intended to make people feel like there was no reason to
remain in the Party, and there has been a robust discussion taking place in
the comments section and Politics blog. Please share a piece of your mind
if you believe there is still a need for a third party which doesn't take
bribes in the form of corporate donations, and stands by it's values. Then
prove them wrong by becoming even more active with the Party and join us
Wednesday for a very special forum on Peak Oil and Energy!*

*Peak Oil, Energy Issues & The End of Suburbia*
*Screening followed by discussion and next steps*
*Wednesday, January 27, 2010
6:00pm - 8:45pm
Western Addition Library,* 1550 Scott Street - one block East of Divisadero
and Geary. Look for us in a meeting room at the library.

For this month's General Meeting, we'll be meeting at the Western Addition
Library branch for a screening of the powerful film, The End of Suburbia
followed by an hour-long presentation and discussion about energy issues and
concrete steps we can take to move towards greener energy.

One exciting development locally we'll discuss is Community Choice
Aggregation (CCA) and "Clean Power SF" which will allow us to move away from
PG&E's pollution-heavy energy generation to wind, solar and other clean
sources.
http://cleanpowersf.org/

Come find out how to make sure this materializes and how to keep PG&E from
deceiving the voters once again into voting against their own interests!
Schedule:
6 pm - 7:20: movie screening
7:20 - 7:30; announcements: signature gathering for Repeal Prop 8
campaign, signing forms to get statewide Green candidates on the ballot,
county council recruitment, and other brief announcements
7:30-8:45: panel discussion with SF Peak Oil Task Force members Pat Gerber,
Jeanne Rosenmeyer, and other experts
