TWO CURRENT STATE BILLS:
State legislators are weighing a pair of political-transparency bills
that the San Francisco Green Party and individual Greens might consider
supporting:
-- Assembly Bill 400 (Paul Fong, D-Cupertino) would require that
circulators of initiative, referendum and recall petitions have publicly
viewable lists of their top five funding sources with them when they
collect signatures. The bill has received the Assembly's approval and is
scheduled to be heard by the Senate Elections and Constitutional
Amendments Committee on June 4.

-- Senate Bill 52 (Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, and Jerry Hill, D-San
Mateo) would require that campaign organizations list their top funding
sources on their web sites and in their advertisements. The bill has
received the Senate's nod and awaits a committee assignment in the Assembly.
These and other bills can be tracked at http://www.leginfo.ca.gov.
