Dear Greens,

Several important events are coming up this week. Activists will
meet tomorrow (Sunday) to plan for the SF Women's Strike. We will
also testify at the Board of Supervisors meeting this Tues in favor of
divesting in the banks that fund the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).
Finally, there is a statewide Green Party meeting coming up in two
weeks, in Bakersfield.

We welcome your participation! Details on all three of these
events are below.

*===========================*

What: Women's Strike SF Bay Area 2nd Huddle
Where: Redstone Building, 2940 16th St, Rm 301
When: Sunday, February 26, 11a-1p

Help plan participation in the March 8th International Women's Strike
& "A Day Without A Woman." Meet at Crossroads Women's Center
Redstone Building, 2940 16th St, 3rd Floor, Rm 301
(same location as the Green Party office, near BART @ 16th & Mission)

The call for this International Women's Strike (IWS) follows mass
protest in 2016 against men's violence in Argentina and the
criminalization of abortion in Poland, and the women's marches against
Trump which mobilized millions in the US and 15 other countries,
including 750,000 in LA. The Women's March is calling for "A Day
Without A Woman" on March 8th. Women in over 40 countries are taking
part so far. Let's pin down what M8 in SF Bay Area will look like:
gather downtown, take time off from waged and unwaged work - the whole
day, hours or minutes - to protest, speak out, march, do a 1 minute
"Stand Up", put a broom outside our door, hang a banner from the
window.

What: Defund DAPL
When: Tues, Feb 28, starting at 2 pm
Where: Board of Supervisors Meeting, City Hall

On November 4, 2016, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed
Resolution No. 465-16, proclaiming the City and County of San
Francisco's "solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in
opposition to construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline across the
Tribe's ancestral lands, waters, resources, and sites of cultural,
historical and religious significance." However, this statement is
meaningless while SF continues to entrust its more than $10 billion
cash flow to the Bank of America, and over $800 million in pooled
investments to other financial institutions that have provided
credit to companies building and operating the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The San Francisco Defund DAPL Coalition, which the SF Green Party
endorses, asked 3 Supervisors to work with them on a draft of a "Defund
DAPL" ordinance prohibiting the city from entering into cash management
contracts with banks financing DAPL. They (respectfully) declined.

This Tuesday, people will speak at the Board of Supervisors meeting
to try to get at least one Supervisor on board with us to pass this
ordinance. That's where you come in! We will prioritize indigenous
voices, but all are welcome to speak at public comment!

If you want to sign up in advance to speak, you can do so here:
