Dear Greens,

Thanks to everybody who volunteered at Sunday Streets last
weekend! Our agenda for this Wednesday's monthly meeting, and
a notice about an item on this week's Board of Supervisors meeting
are below.

*===========================*

What: Testify at City Hall against "Chop Shop" legislation
Where: 1 Dr. Carleton B. Goodlett Place, Room 250
When: Tue, July 25, from 2-4 pm

The Green Party has endorsed the "Homeless Bill of Rights" and opposes
laws that serve no purpose other than criminalizing homeless people:

Police in SF already ignore bike theft, and do not want to do the
work that is required to build a case against re-sellers of stolen
bikes. Instead, they are working with D8 Supervisor Sheehy to
pass a new law that will make it illegal to have too many bike
parts without a business license or proof of ownership.

Ironically, this law will lead to police spending even less of their
time investigating real crimes (including bike thefts), since they
will use this new law as an excuse to spend more time harassing
homeless people and moving their camps from one neighborhood to the
next.

The Chop Shop legislation is on the agenda for the Board of
Supervisors meeting. Come speak out against this legislation!

California, and report-back from meeting with Phil Ting.
