Supreme Court's decision opens flood gates to corporate cash

Friends of Democracy ~ Yesterday, the Supreme Court announced a disastrous rollback of campaign finance laws. Their 5-4 decision gives corporations free rein to spend unlimited amounts of money on elections. It's a horrible decision. But we can undo the damage if Congress passes public financing of elections, which would give those who aren't doing the bidding of big money special interests the ability to compete. The Fair Elections Now Act, which is currently in congress with over 100 co-sponsors, is a powerful bill that would offer full public financing for congressional candidates. President Obama has called for a strong legislative response to the Supreme Court travesty, so we may have a window of opportunity for passing a strong reform bill right now.
