Hi, Thanks again for your help as a panelist at our Progressive Transportation Summit! I think everybody enjoyed themselves, and we had some very good discussions. We in the Green Party's Transportation Working Group heard some great ideas, which we'll work on distilling into a potential platform plank at our next meeting on June 10. Hi, Just to let you know I do plan on being there Sunday. I couldn't find the minutes on the website - perhaps I didn't know where to look. I also filled out a form for security clearance - thinking this is perhaps where it is. I agree with Susan about those questions. I would hate to have answer them, they seem very narrow - and not helpful in trying to get at the essence of things. I also have a question which probably just reflects my ignorance of things - but why isn't rail and trucking included in our discussion? First, there was a call for Transportation questions about a month ago. I submitted about 5 good ones that the TWG came up with to the CIWG, and attended the meeting where the questionnaire was finalized. (I was the only TWG member to attend, and I was pretty jet-lagged after returning that same night from a trip to the East coast). I think I did get our two most important questions in. There are also several open-ended questions at the end which allow candidates to bring up Transportation issues if they want. There's a good reason there aren't 23 Transportation questions on the questionnaire. That is, there would have to be 23 budget questions, 23 housing questions, 23 education questions, etc. As a former GCC candidate, I really hated filling out long questionnaires for organizations I knew wouldn't endorse me anyway; I'm sure it's 10 times worse for supervisor candidates. We can't change the questionnaire after 5 other candidates have answered it, and we certainly can't change it at the request of one of the candidates! On the other hand, these are good questions to answer ourselves, for our platform plank. JMC ps. Use the sfgreens.org mail address instead of the yahoo address. Here's the invitation I sent to the supervisors we discussed; I also invited all Green candidates in D5 and D9, with slightly different language. We also agreed in March to invite the following people: Josh Switzer, Jesse Lawrence, Michael Smith, Joe Speaks. Does anybody have contact info for them so we can be sure they've been invited? The meeting will be held at our office, 1028A Howard St, at 6th. We'll hear short talks from invited panelists from organizations involved in activism around transportation issues, and then discuss each topic for a total of about 45 minutes to an hour. This discussion will help inform us in creating a Transportation plank for the local SFGP platform which we're developing. Everybody who's interested in this discussion is invited, and we're not concerned about party affiliation. On May 16, we'll discuss Transit Justice, MUNI/regional transit, and Taxis.
