Joint Meeting(Transpo/Sustainability) This Monday Night?

Hi all, I'm going to be in a clean energy stakeholder meeting with Ross this Monday night and so I can't be present at the SF Green Party office to open up for the regular joint meeting. (Although I can probably be there by 7:30.) I know a lot is going on with both transportation and energy. Can someone else take the ball on organizing the meeting? Re oil drilling on the outer-continental shelf, University of California-San Francisco’s Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, California, on Thursday, April 16, 9:00 A.M. This thing will go on from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., to make sure everyone has a chance to speak. I'm not positive, but I also think that the U.S. Navy's plan to turn the whole Northwest Coast, including the northernmost coast of California, into a test bombing range, may also be at issue. http://www.doi.gov/news/09_News_Releases/031109a.html I'm going to call some KPFA people, and Pirate Cat, to ask them to try to get somebody on about this before it happens. If they have, I haven't heard it yet, but I can't listen to the radio 24-7.

Annie, all -- Does anyone have any response to the fact that Lennar and PG$E are sponsoring this year's Sunday Streets? It seems to me that the amount of benefit they get out of this corporate greenwashing campaign far outweighs any benefit to the Bayview in having streets closed down, and that whatever benefit these street closures confer on Bayview residents is not equal to the damage they do to these communities by their destructive environmental presence there. Anybody want to comment to that effect on Steve Jones' blog? I bet Annie in particular will have something worthwhile to say about this. I just sent this to the BVHP Enough list, and Mary Ratcliff then asked me to send this on to the Green Party list, but I'm not on any Green Party lists except the Transpo list, so I'm sending it here: This is Item #5 on the agenda for tomorrow's Land Use Committee hearing, at City Hall, at 1:00 P.M. tomorrow: 090175 [Community input on the creation of jobs in San Francisco] Supervisor Mar Hearing to obtain community input on the creation of jobs, particularly green collar jobs, in San Francisco as the City is positioning itself for Federal investment dollars. Here's from the PDF regarding Eric's "request": "Request for a hearing to obtain community input on the creation of jobs, particularly green collar jobs, in San Francisco as the City is positioning itself for Federal investment dollars." "The City" is kind of a nice way to put this, but Eric Mar is a Supervisor, so he has to be a lot more strategically diplomatic about this than I do. I would say, as Lennar and others now enjoying "most favored corporation status" in the City of San Francisco position themselves, and the rest of us, with far fewer resources, organize to try and resist another wave of assault, with federal stimulus $$$. I know no one who is happy to see these stimulus $$$ coming at us. Eric Mar seems to be trying to buy time to organize.
