I just sent this to the BVHP Enough list, and Mary Ratcliff then asked me to send this on to the Green Party list, but I'm not on any Green Party lists except the Transpo list, so I'm sending it here: This is Item #5 on the agenda for tomorrow's Land Use Committee hearing, at City Hall, at 1:00 P.M. tomorrow: 090175 [Community input on the creation of jobs in San Francisco] Supervisor Mar Hearing to obtain community input on the creation of jobs, particularly green collar jobs, in San Francisco as the City is positioning itself for Federal investment dollars. Here's from the PDF regarding Eric's "request": "Request for a hearing to obtain community input on the creation of jobs, particularly green collar jobs, in San Francisco as the City is positioning itself for Federal investment dollars." "The City" is kind of a nice way to put this, but Eric Mar is a Supervisor, so he has to be a lot more strategically diplomatic about this than I do. I would say, as Lennar and others now enjoying "most favored corporation status" in the City of San Francisco position themselves, and the rest of us, with far fewer resources, organize to try and resist another wave of assault, with federal stimulus $$$. I know no one who is happy to see these stimulus $$$ coming at us. Eric Mar seems to be trying to buy time to organize.

60 Dollar Muni Pass! :^(

Hi all, In yesterday's MTA hearing, staff and board members began pounding the drum for big service cuts, increased cash and pass fares (in all categories) a possible 2010 fast pass up to $60 (It's already being raised to $55), as well as a higher charge for passes with local BART. The staff seems to have no concept of developing a plan to present to the Supervisors that would directly raise revenues through new taxes, and is only making recommendations for revenue and cutting measures within the scope of Muni's physical operations... I strongly recommend drinking some coffee before you try to watch, so that you can stay alert during Sonali's -witheringly- dull monotone. Call Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi now! This Friday, March 6th, the San Francisco Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) will vote on activating the Clean Power SF renewable energy project, which was passed in 2007 to give the City 50% clean electricity within the next decade. But alarmingly, the LAFCo is poised to let the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) delay and weaken the project, thereby killing large scale clean energy in San Francisco.
