Hi Leah, I cannot figure out to work the Fax system on my new computer (it's broken on my old), nor do I know how to work the mail system. There is no e-mail address for the governor, otherwise I would be able to send a letter re. AB 748 via my juno or yahoo accounts. Perhaps Susan King or John-Marc Chandonia can send a letter to the governor in support of AB 748 (no bicycle tolls on the GGB). Sorry about this. Sue

One more thing- We need to get the input from the Housing and Land Use working group. They met last night, so maybe they talked about it. If not, this should go through them. The TWG will be holding an event on the evening of September 22, World Car-Free Day, at the Red Victorian Bed and Breakfast, 1665 Haight Street. We will be having a free screening of the documentary The End of Suburbia, followed by a panel discussion with District 5 Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and others. Your name was mentioned as someone who would be an excellent panelist on a discussion of declining access to energy and transportation issues. We have done this event two other times. Our other panelists have been Richard Heinberg (author of The Party's Over and Powerdown), former gubernatorial candidate Peter Camejo, Amber Crabbe of the Transportation and Land Use Coalition, and Kate White of the San Francisco Housing Action Coalition. Dave Room, of the Post-Carbon Institute has moderated the panel discussions, but I am inviting him to appear on the September 22 panel (he has not yet gotten back to me). Hi Dave, Are you free on September 22 (World Car-Free Day) to participate in the panel discussion with Ross Mirkarimi, after a screening of The End of Suburbia? The location will be different -- The Red Vic Bed and Breakfast at 1665 Haight Street, and it will be a little earlier. The panel discussion will start at about 8 p.m. Ross is the mainstay (for now) of a our panel discussions because he is a Green Party member of the Board of Supervisors and has worked hard for public power in the past. We need to keep at least one seat for a woman, and then we wanted a money-raiser -- someone with a high profile like Peter Camejo or Matt Gonzalez to turn out an audience. However, we have not invited Peter or Matt for this event. I would love to have you on the panel if you are free that night. I want an expert on this issue. We need folks with tech skills, graphic skills (including a nice logo) and writing skills to add the content. 2. Organize fundraisers like the one that Sue and Krissy want to do. 3. Help set up more radio interviews for Malik so that he can publicize the work. 4. Volunteer to check the answering machine on the phone. 5. Get the Green Party all over the country to be aware and supportive. 6. Get a team of skilled people who can go and help on the ground. 7. Collect supplies and find a way to get them in to him. I'm sure there are many more ways to help but this is a start. Ideas most welcome. She is offering her venue, Dance Mission, at the corner of 24th and Mission Street. Medea Benjamin has said she will contact Louisiana Green Malik Rahim to get the name of legitimate 501c3's that we can donate to. I am reaching out to bands and will reach out to spoken word artists. Question: are we down with officially endorsing a fundraiser? I'm calling it Green to Green, though the money would actually go to whatever organization(s) Malik Rahim or others recommend. Hi Mark, I'll be in the office on Wednesday for the candidate forum -- can the packets be available then? Also, I have a few copies of the Transportation Plank, but it's probably better to direct people to the electronic version. I'll pick up as much as I can, and yes, there should be tables at both places for tabling. But I need BODIES, people to staff the tables. I did not mention these things to Micheas on Sunday night because I was not thinking business then. June: please note that we will need a table for the Green Party on Seotember 20.
