Shiva Pakdel combines a broad range of mediums including oils, acrylics, paper, beads, collage, and prints. Some of her works include collages of mid 19th and 20th century antique stamps from Iran, a personal series of images, poetry, photographs and portraits entitled “Iran On My Mind”, and a series of oil and acrylic faces painted on wood. By combining historical elements and placing them in a contemporary format, her work is a beautiful blend of modern pieces with traditional influences. Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices, Mumbai, India, will be assuming the office of President as of February 12, 2006. Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were vacationing at Niagara Falls, thus making him eligible for the position. A Congressional spokesperson noted that, while Mr. Singh may not be fully aware of all the issues involved in the office of President, this should not be a problem because Bush was not familiar with the issues either. Mr. Singh will rely upon a script tree that will enable him to respond effectively to most topics of concern. Using these canned responses, he can address common concerns without having to understand the underlying issues at all. "We know these scripting tools work," stated the spokesperson. "President Bush has used them successfully for years." Mr. Singh may have problems with the Texas drawl, but lately Bush has abandoned the "down home" persona in his effort to appear intelligent and on top of the Katrina situation. Bush will receive health coverage, expenses, and salary until his final day of employment. Following a 2-week waiting period, he will be eligible for $240 a week unemployment for 13 weeks. Unfortunately, he will not be eligible for Medicaid, as his unemployment benefits will exceed the allowed limit. Mr. Bush has been provided the outplacement services of Manpower, Inc. to help him write a resume and prepare for his upcoming job transition. According to Manpower, Mr. Bush may have difficulties in securing a new position due to limited practical work experience. A greeter position at Wal-Mart was suggested due to Bush's extensive experience shaking hands and phony smile. Another possibility is Bush's reenlistment in the Texas Air National Guard. His prior records are conspicuously vague but, should he choose this option, he would likely be stationed in Waco, TX, for a month, before being sent to Iraq, a country he has visited. "I've been there, I know all about Iraq," stated Mr. Bush, who gained invaluable knowledge of the country in a visit to the Baghdad Airport's terminal and gift shop. Sources in Baghdad and Falluja say Mr. Bush would receive a warm reception from local Iraqis. She was arrested just after she took her seat, by the same officer who helped her there after she showed her ticket. His name was Mike Weight. He yelled "Protestor," then hauled her out of Congress and handcuffed her after he saw her T-shirt when she was taking off her jacket, which said: 2245 Dead. How many more? Cindy spent the next four hours in two jails, then was released. On Tuesday October 25, Green Party Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi, representing a broad-based coalition, introduced legislation that could forever change the way politics is done in San Francisco: With public financing, the public helps fund the campaigns of candidates who can demonstrate a wide base of community support by collecting a large number of small donations. In exchange candidates agree to a strict spending cap, and to limit their private fundraising. The idea is to make politicians accountable only to the public, rather than private campaign donors, and to ensure that all serious candidates, regardless of access to money, have enough resources to get their message out to the voters. To make this legislation happen, please do two things: 1. Write or call the Supervisors to encourage their support (they need hear this from as many people as possible); and 2. Ask your friends to do the same. In the past, he advised the Reagan Administration on strategies for evading Congress's oversight and ignoring laws it doesn't agree with, and favoring a license for the Justice Department to install wiretaps without obtaining a warrant. - His apparent hostility towards African Americans and favoritism for corporations, as evidenced by his judicial record. - His narrow interpretation of the U.S. Constitution's Commerce Clause, which might threaten numerous environmental laws, especially those protecting wetlands and waterways that affect the ecology of several states. - He favors restrictive ballot access laws hostile to political parties outside of the Democratic-Republican mainstream; namely us Greens, among others. --------- 1/26: Green Party Member & Activist Charlene Smythe Heads to the World Social Forum Green Party County Council member and Bayview resident Charlene Smythe is excited to be joining thousands of people from around the world attending this year's World Social Forum in Venezuela. This is her first trip abroad. Having seen poverty in the United States, Charlene is eager to see what it's like in another country, and how Venezuela is using its oil-rich resources to help all its people, unlike the United States where only greedy executives benefit.
